Meetings

We aim to provide some external speakers each year on subjects  related to Machine Knitting. Occasionally we have talks on crochet, beading, spinning and weaving and any other subject with some relevance to knitting by machine. In addition to speakers, we have club evenings, where we look in greater depth at one aspect of machine knitting and everybody is free to offer their help and advice. Many good tips and pieces of advice are gleaned from these evenings. We have a club machine on which members may try out a technique new to them at the meeting with help from other members, or the machine may be borrowed for a member to try knitting by machine before she invests in a machine of her own. There are two social meetings per year, a Pub Supper in August and a Christmas party. During the year, we also hold Workshop Days, where members may bring their machines and spend a day knitting, away from the interruptions of the domestic and family environment Outings are occasionally arranged to local wool shops, places of interest e.g. museums knitting fairs and exhibitions.
